Who we are today is the result of the 2012 merger of two committed and like-minded home health agencies that had served the community for several decades.
On Jan. 1, 2012, the landscape of home care services changed in the Mt. Washington Valley with the merger of Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care Services of Northern Carroll County and Carroll County Health and Home Care Services.
By joining together into one agency, it became possible to better coordinate essential services throughout the area. When the opportunity arose for these two agencies with similar missions to merge into one strong organization, it just made sense.
For many years, both agencies provided important services for the elderly, chronically ill and disabled in their homes. Both agencies were founded and nurtured by small groups of deeply committed people.
People want to remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible. More advanced medical technologies can now be provided in the home. As the community faces an aging population coping with multiple chronic illnesses, in-home services need to be integrated, efficient and focused on the client and their family.
Today, VNHCH is a highly functioning professional business that operates under many regulatory and financial constraints. It has a strong affiliation with Memorial Hospital and its medical providers, as well as with other local health care practices, Maine Medical Center, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and many more.
