Long Term Care

Long term care is growing more important as our population ages but desires to stay at home and in their own community. Long term care services are specially designed to keep you independent, active and living a healthy life.

Long term care is provided by licensed nursing assistants, homemakers and nurses. The type and variety of services are based on individual needs what is allowable under a specific program

Licensed Nursing Assistants help with daily living activities and provide “hands-on” personal care services. These may include assistance with bathing, dressing and eating. Specific duties depend on your individual needs as evaluated by the nurse supervisor and established in your plan of care.

Homemaking or non-medical assistance is provided to clients by home health aides and homemakers. They perform such services as help with laundry, groceries, cleaning and other routine household tasks.

Long term care services are covered by Long Term Care Insurances, NH/ME Medicaid and NH State Grant Programs for qualifying persons. Private pay clients are also welcome.

Our “Simple Comforts” grant-funded program helps long term care clients pay for essential items not otherwise covered by insurance, including cleaning supplies and safety devices such as fire extinguishers, non-slip stickers and grab bars for the bathtub. VNHCH long-term care staff make recommendations on clients who have the need for Simple Comfort funds to keep them safe and comfortable in their homes. We are thankful to the Robert & Dorothy Goldberg Charitable Foundation for their generous support of Simple Comforts in 2020.
